Sellwood Bridge

Project Description

The Sellwood Bridge is a new bridge that was built over the Willamette River in South Portland. The bridge was named the 2017 Project of the Year by the Daily Journal of Commerce. Long Painting Company was tasked with doing miscellaneous touchup painting on both the interior and exterior steel of the bridge.

The project team included Superintendent, Ryan Cramer and Foreman, Cortney (CJ) Schwab.

For the interior portions, crews had to climb through hatches into the inside of the arches, where the tight spaces made it challenging to paint. They applied a zinc coating on the interior areas, and a zinc/epoxy/urethane system on the exterior. Long Painting Company worked on the bridge from November 2015 to January 2018.
