Long Painting’s Wildfire Relief Trip
Aug 28, 2015 | by Lisa Schaefer
This summer has been a rough one for the Pacific Northwest. Eastern Washington, in particular Okanogan County, has been hit hard with wildfires that have yet to calm down. We are so proud and thankful for the firefighters who have been helping to save homes, animals, and people in Washington State.
This week, a few of our employees–Josh Santos, Chad Erickson, and Cyndi Marks–organized a “WildFire Crew” support effort that has since gone viral on Facebook. Josh, Cyndi, Chad, and a few others, are currently delivering a van full of items like water, food, and supplies to Eastern Washington. The items were collected and donated by Long Painting Company employees, suppliers, friends, and various other people from the community in order to support the firemen’s efforts. Q13 Fox stopped by Long Painting Company to film our departure this morning!
Earlier this week, we placed a call for supplies and were overwhelmed with the response from our community. We asked for supplies like eye drops, chapstick, clothing items, wet wipes, and non-melting food items. Businesses like National Safety, Inc., Painters Local 1964, and Bass Pro Shops helped contribute to our call for help. Thanks to local businesses, our families and friends, and our employees, we are off to deliver the first load to the selfless firefighters.
We will be updating this story throughout next week, but please also follow along on our Facebook page. All of our thoughts are with those affected by the wildfires.
