Industrial Floor Coatings and Intumescent Fire Proof Training

Several Long Painting Estimators, Superintendents and Forman recently completed two days of Industrial Floor Coatings and Intumescent Fire Proof Certification Training provided by Carboline Coatings. Michael McKeever Carboline Market Manager educated the group on several Floor Coatings Systems including Quartz Resinous, High Abrasion Resistant, Chemical Resistant and Antimicrobial. These floor coatings systems can be utilized in a variety of settings such as labs, wineries, food processing, manufacturing and chemical plants. The classroom session was followed by hands on demonstration which allowed both the estimators and applicators to mix and apply the coatings.
The second day covered Intumescent Fireproofing and was taught by Carboline’s Senior Market manager Sean Younger. Sean explained that Intumescent Fireproofing is a decorative coating designed to provide fire protection for interior structural steel up to 3 hour fire rating depending on the design. After a thorough review of the various types of intumescent fireproof coatings available the group headed to the Long Painting warehouse for hands on demonstration mixing and applying both the water based and epoxy fireproof coatings. The two days classes provided by Carboline gave the Long Painting team a better understanding of the estimating, mixing, safe handling and application of these specialty coatings.
